Purple Monkey
Back in 2021 I was ordering from Glovo and trying almost every takeout place that delivered to my address. Since then I’ve switched to Wolt, which isn’t really an improvement. If anything, rising prices are one of the reasons I started cooking more at home.
Now, the only place I sometimes order from in Zagreb is Purple Monkey. They have the best price-to-quality ratio in my area. I like their Pad Kra Pao, and the Firecracker Cauliflower is really the only way to eat cauliflower.
The place is part of the Bites&Beyond group, along with Good Food, Foodie, Poke Me, and some other takeout and fast-dining brands co-owned by Ivan Todoric. It’s not exactly a grassroots organic story, but I still prefer them to most other grill, pizza, and burger joints.
I also need to mention Soi Fusion. It’s still the best poke in town, and they serve the biggest portions. I stopped ordering from them once the combined cost of food and delivery went up and they switched to a generic plastic box for packaging. That really took some of the charm away. Still, I’d strongly recommend eating there.
